Licensed Naturopathic Doctors have a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education including at least three years of pre-medical university studies, plus four years of full-time, professional Naturopathic Medical education, and a full year internship at a medical clinic. How are NDs regulated in the province of Alberta? Following graduation, a Naturopathic Doctor must complete the North American standardized Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination (NPLEX) and meet continuing education credits to maintain licensure. What can I expect from Naturopathic visits? Naturopathic visits are longer and more in depth than average medical visits. Naturopathic Doctors take time with patients to listen to their concerns and get to the root cause of their health problems. The initial visit is one hour in length and follow-up visits range from thirty minutes to one hour. Initial visits include a comprehensive patient intake, physical exam and diagnostic testing, as required. With your input, your Naturopathic Doctor will propose an individualized treatment plan to help you achieve your health goals. What can Naturopathic Medicine treat? Naturopathic Medicine treats all forms of health concerns - from pediatric to geriatric, acute infection to chronic illness and physical to psychological.
